What are the challenges faced by E-commerce today?

Alishba

Recently came across a headline that says "E-commerce is facing some demanding challenges around the world". I personally feel like the digital platform is facing such issues as they are exposed to threats like data security and have immense pressure of finding the right customer. A threat of security breach is something that cannot afford to be taken lightly. Since their work involves dealing with sensitive data all the time. To improvise this, I wonder how they put off these risks. Secondly, finding the right customer part sounds extremely exhausting. Clearly, no wonder since 2020 the e-market has gotten more tense and competitive. What could be the solutions to such current issues in commerce?

I believe the main battle is about bringing traffic on your website. With strategies like SEO and Content writing, the task has gotten easier but as mentioned above, post 2020 the competition has turned fierce. I recently came across the concept of content gap analysis and it boggled my mind. We try so hard to generate creative content but sadly on the topics that are not even searched by our audience. As a content marketer, I find it very challenging, I hope there are strategies to eradicate such gaps.

Following the discussion, I wanted to share my point of view too. Although, data privacy and targeted customers are the core concern of the E-commerce industry. The industry also has tough battles to fight in securing customer loyalty. You know, the art of bringing the customer back again. And trust me, that is not an easy job. I own a small handmade jewelry business and it is tough to make new customer return to you again. And another point that I would like to raise here, is being an omnichannel helps increase sales.

I would like to add another point here, apart from SEO, another great practice to attract customers is content writing. By posting, engaging and plagiarism-free content on the website, leads are easily accomplished. Leads benefits the company as they hold the potential of converting into a sale later on. However, marketing budget is a whole other discussion.

I am working in this field for two years now, and your concerns are somewhat genuine. The answer to your first statement regarding the protection of the data is that E-commerce companies today, are applying intelligent strategies to protect sensitive information. They are using solutions that eliminate the chances of such risks. Backing up the data and installing security plug-ins are a few of the effective fixes that are practiced by E-commerce. Coming to your second concern about acquiring the accurate customer, due to advanced technology, it is not a challenge anymore. Using powerful tools like SEO helps E-commerce businesses to find their targeted customers. However, challenges for E-commerce for consumers are a whole different story.
