A serum from a popular skincare brand ruined my holidays

Ok, this happened to me last year in the winter holidays. How badly I wished I had chosen another product from low-cost skincare compared to this highly popularized one. I was suffering from dull and dry skin, and my sister’s wedding was coming up. I was desperate to try anything to treat it as soon as possible. Apart from her wedding, we had a whole trip planned to Muree with my cousins. I bought the infamous brand’s product which was Vitamen C serum and applied it according to the instructions. Before I go into the details of what went wrong, let me highlight that this skincare specializes in products that are suitable for sensitive skin. Since mine is sensitive I decided to go with this brand. So, I did a good amount of research about skincare products before selecting this one. Including the negative effects of skincare products and what harmful ingredients in skincare one should avoid. Anyways, I applied as per its instructions and I don’t know why I felt extreme itchiness right after the application. I thought maybe it is due to my first time trying the product. I tried ignoring the itchy feeling but soon my skin broke out with acne. I was too horrified to speak at first. I rushed to the washroom and washed my face hurriedly. But by then it was too late as the harmful effects of chemicals in skincare has done the damage. Maybe it was a higher concentration of Vitamin C in the serum or what but it definitely did not suit me. Now my skin was not only dry, and dull but also full of unpleasing acne. Don’t even ask me how did my sister’s wedding turn out for me. I did not join my cousins for the Muree trip and stayed at home till it completely went away. Obviously, I had to rely on home remedies which took its own sweet time but eventually I got my healthy skin back. Moral of the story is always run a quick allergy test before applying it directly on your face.
